Moeed W. Yusuf, a Pakistani national security scholar, held the position of the 9th National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Before assuming this role, he served as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning from December 24, 2019, to May 16, 2021.

Prior to joining the government, Yusuf held various significant positions. He served as the Associate Vice President for Asia at the Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C. Additionally, he worked as a Fellow at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. Yusuf contributed as a Research Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center at Harvard University’s Kennedy School.

Yusuf took on the significant responsibility of Chairperson of Pakistan’s Strategic Policy Planning Cell under the National Security Division, a position he held for a designated two-year term. Shortly thereafter, on December 24, 2019, Yusuf’s role expanded as he was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on National Security Division and Strategic Policy Planning.
