Javed Malik is a diplomat, media personality, and the President of the Diplomat Business Club in London and Dubai. Between 2015 and 2018, Malik was Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and between 2013 and 2018, he was the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Trade and Investment. Malik previously served as Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large for Overseas Pakistanis from 2008 to 2011. He currently serves as the President of the International Diplomat Forum, which has its offices in London, Dubai, and Islamabad.

Career

President of Diplomat Business Club

Malik is the current President of the Diplomat Business Club, an international trade and economic diplomacy platform that brings together business and corporate executives to discuss trade and investment opportunities. 

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain

Javed Malik was appointed Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2016.

He presented his credentials to His Majesty King Hamad Al Khalifa in March 2016, and during the course of his term, relations between Pakistan and Bahrain were upgraded to a Joint Ministerial Commission, which held its first session in December 2016 under the co-chairmanship of Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al Khalifa and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz.

The Commission agreed on a strategy to strengthen bilateral diplomatic, political, trade, economic, people-to-people, and cultural ties. This was followed by the Pakistan Bahrain Business Opportunities Conferences, which were held in both Pakistan and Bahrain and were chaired by the Commerce Ministers and Presidents of both nations’ Chambers of Commerce.

During Javed Malik’s tenure, an MOU to create the King Hamad University in Islamabad was also signed, serving as a symbol of Pakistan and Bahrain’s close friendship.

Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Trade & Investment

In 2013, the Prime Minister designated Javed Malik as Pakistan’s Special Envoy to the GCC, with the status of Ambassador, with the purpose of promoting business, trade, and investment prospects in Pakistan. In this capacity, he led a number of activities and urged international investors to visit Pakistan, as well as hosted a number of seminars and conferences to highlight Pakistan’s trade and investment potential.

Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large

In 2008, Pakistan’s Prime Minister designated Javed Malik as Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large with ministerial status.

In this position, he advised and assisted the Prime Minister on problems concerning Pakistanis living abroad. He founded the Overseas Pakistanis Forum, which held its first meeting in the UAE, and he also organised the Friends of Pakistan Conference in Islamabad, which also included UK Parliamentarians.

Media

Malik has a notable career in print and television media, having worked as a prominent political and international affairs analyst and television host since 1999. He began his television career with Prime TV in London, and later with ARY News, where he hosted “Insight” – A Current Affairs talk show for over ten years. He is also affiliated with the Geo News / Jang Group and writes for The News International and Daily Jang. He also contributes to the Middle Eastern newspaper Khaleej Times and continues to appear as an international affairs analyst on numerous television shows.
