Hajra Penezai Khan is a well-known Pakistani actress, a singer, and an author.
Biography
Hajra Khan was born to a Pathan family in the beautiful city of Quetta. She calls her father educated, kind-hearted and supportive of her aims.
Education
She did her O levels at The City School Quetta and then went to Karachi for her A levels. Later, she went to Ireland for her graduation from BBA. Hajra believes firmly in acquiring the proper education. “You are an educated person when you realise that education is important.”
Start of Career
She got her first modelling shoot for Nabila in Karachi before going to Ireland. Hajra said she spent afternoons with her cousins and friends in Quetta, recording videos and songs. The famous director Javed Fazil offered Hajr a role in his drama ‘Buri Adat’ in 2009. This proved the start of her career.
“You are not just a heroine, you are an actress. Aim for the latter.” Javed Fazil said about Hajra.
Career in Showbiz
Hajra Khan started working in dramas and videos. She got everyone’s attention when she worked in a musical video, ‘Moray Piya’ with ‘Jal’, a band. Hajra started a talk show named “In Conversation with Hajra”.
After working in showbiz for a few years, she went to London for a ‘self-discovery journey’. She spent two and a half years there and Says she spent her time there writing and acting. However, some of her writings will be presented internationally after some time.
Hajra Khan again appeared in showbiz in a hit drama “Mann Mayal” in 2015. She said that Haseeb Hassan is one of her favourite directors, so she said yes to the tiny and much older role in Mann Mayal.
Social Work
Hajra has been working for unjust practices against women, children and minorities in Pakistan. She says she wants to change things.
Hajra’s views about culture are that,
“Obsolete oppressed mindset is not culture. Arts, music, customs, Attire, etc is culture.”
Panezai’s Book “Where The Opium Grows”
In December 2014, Hajra Panezai published her book “Where The Opium Grows: Surviving Pakistan as a Woman, an Actress and Knowing Imran Khan.”
This book is available on Amazon and has been long covered in mystery. Hajra Panezai has made explosive allegations against former prime minister Imran Khan in this book. At the start of the book, she describes a story of a woman escaping from an area known for the opium trade and having an enormous number of refugees. She shares her memories with Imran Khan; however, significant details were left in the book’s first version.
In her recent podcast, she said that her book, published in 2014, has no political agenda.
Hajra asks readers to change their views about Imran Khan and challenges him as a saviour of the country. She says that she judged in 2014 that Imran Khan was a wrong number.
Following Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Reham Khan, she adds other accusations against PTI chairman Imran Khan in her book.
She claims that Imran Khan’s team hacked her social media accounts. She also says that Imran Khan forced her to leave the country in 2014 to prevent exposure.
