Medical imaging tests are used in radiology technology, a medical professional degree, to diagnose and cure disorders that affect human bodies. Radiology introduces two fundamental branches of science: interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology.
The field of diagnostic radiology is concerned with the use of imaging methods for illness diagnosis and treatment, including fluoroscopy, MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray radiography, nuclear medicine, and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The practice of performing minimally invasive medical operations under the supervision of medical technologies is known as interventional radiology.
The Profession requires a high level of technological proficiency. Radiology technologists are employed as members of the medical team in the operating theater, intensive care unit, accidents and emergency room, and diagnostic imaging department. Radiology technologists occasionally assist in treating cancer patients as well.
