The pharmacy degree is a five-year program that is offered by practically all major colleges. The minimum percentage requirement of 60% for admission to the BS Pharmacy program is FSc (pre-medical). To be listed on the merit list, a student may need to pass an entrance exam administered by any university. Therefore, it is advised to review the admissions process. Prior to 2003, the program offered a four-year Bachelor of B. Pharmacy degree. After that, it was changed to a five-year degree program called Pharm D in order to comply with worldwide norms. This allowed the students to become doctors of pharmacy. They are not, however, working physicians or doctors.

Scope

A bachelor’s degree in pharmacy offers plenty of opportunities in Pakistan, both in the public and private sectors. Pre-medical students at FSC consistently rank it among their top three career preferences. This trend increased when the graduate program in pharmacy was extended to five years to meet worldwide standards. There are several opportunities for the degree holder to work in research and the pharmaceutical sector. Enrolling Pharma Doctors for their organizations is always preferred by numerous national drug control authorities. An MBBS physician may not be encouraged to join at these locations due to the specific professional criteria of that field. A pharmacy degree is very desirable for research in the pharmaceutical industry. 

To succeed in research, it is advised to have a postgraduate degree in pharmacy.
