Ayaz Amir is a smart and humorous man who understands how to draw readers into his writings. He never hesitates to express his feelings. He stayed connected to DAWN Newspaper for a long time before joining “The News International.” He wrote some controversial articles, one of which was on the 1965 conflict between Pakistan and India. He is a seasonal politician from Pakistan who has operated as an MNA and an MPA with the PTI and PMLN, respectively. Ayaz also hosted a few programs on ARY and also served as a Captain in the Army. He considers himself a liberal individual and opposes religious extremists. He remained imprisoned as well.
Tarek Fatah is Ayaz’s father, while Nargis Tapal is his mother. Ayaz Amir married Sameena Shah, and together, they had a son named Shahnawaz Amir. On September 23, Shahnawaz Amir was taken into custody by the Islamabad Police on suspicion of killing his wife, Sara Inam. The suspect and his mother allegedly lived at their farmhouse in the Chak Shahzad neighbourhood of Islamabad when she was allegedly murdered.

PMA Career: He began his professional career with PMA as a Cadet Officer. He was given the position of Captain in the Pakistani Army after a few years. He did, though, quit and associate himself with foreign service.
Political Career: He began his political career in 1990 when standing as a candidate for the PMLN, he was first elected as a member of the provincial assembly in the 1990 general elections. He quit the party in 1998 and returned in 2002. Later, he ran on the same party ticket for the National Assembly seat in the 2008 General Elections and, fortunately, received the most votes. He left the party after his term was up and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
His journalism career was incredibly successful. His works tend to centre on the Pakistan Army’s involvement in politics. His most contentious work was regarding the 1965 conflict between Pakistan and India. He claimed that the current army is stronger and fights harder than the old army. Later, he spent several years penning a column for The News International until growing dissatisfied with them and switching to writing his column in Urdu. Additionally, he served as the host of the talk show Counterpoint on ARY One World. He presently makes an appearance as an expert on the current events programme Think Tank on the Pakistani TV channel Dunya News.
A day after his son, Shahnawaz Amir, was detained on suspicion of killing his wife, Ayaz Amir was also arrested for his alleged role in the murder. However, he was later discharged by the court.
A day after attending a seminar organised by Imran Khan, where Ayaz criticised Khan for granting an extension to the Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and referring to the top military officials as “property dealers,” Ayaz Amir got in his car to leave the Dunya News studio when it was stopped midway by unidentified men who dragged him out of the car, tore his clothes, and stole his phone and wallet.
