Early Life and Education
Allah Dino Khawaja, also known as A.D. Khawaja, hails from a village in Tando Muhammad Khan district. His educational journey began at Cadet College Petaro, where he completed his Intermediate studies in 1982. Khawaja later pursued a Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Sindh.
Career in Police Service
Khawaja’s career in the police service has been marked by dedication and strategic leadership. He served as SSP in various districts of Sindh and worked as DIG in districts South and East in Karachi. Additionally, he contributed his expertise to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) as a joint director. Khawaja’s diverse experience also includes roles as DIG for telecommunication, director for Sindh’s anti-corruption department, and personal staff officer for two chief ministers, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah and Syed Abdullah Ali Shah.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh
In a significant milestone, Khawaja was appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the province of Sindh in March 2016. His tenure witnessed the implementation of crucial decisions and the execution of the National Action Plan of Pakistan, as well as the Karachi operation aimed at addressing security challenges.
Service in National Highways & Motorway Police
Following his role as IGP Sindh, Khawaja continued to contribute to law enforcement. Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed him as the Inspector General of the National Highways & Motorway Police in September 2018, a position he held until February 2020.
Federal Secretary for Narcotics Control
In a testament to his exceptional capabilities, Khawaja was bestowed the rare honor for a police officer to head a federal ministry. In February 2020, he assumed the role of Federal Secretary for Narcotics Control, where he served for a commendable period of seven months.
Commandant of the National Police Academy
Khawaja’s extensive experience and leadership qualities led to his appointment as the Commandant of the National Police Academy in Islamabad, further showcasing his commitment to enhancing professional standards within the police force.
Federal Secretary for Ministry of Human Rights
Currently, Allah Dino Khawaja holds the prestigious position of Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Human Rights. His dedication to public service and his historical achievements, such as being the first Sindhi to become a Federal Secretary and the first Pakistani Police Officer to head a Ministry twice, reflect a remarkable career dedicated to upholding the rule of law and serving the nation. Throughout his extensive and distinguished career, he earned the prestigious President’s Police Medal (PPM) twice, a testament to his exceptional contributions in the field of law enforcement.
