Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri’s life is a testament to his dedication to Islamic scholarship, Sufism, and the global propagation of Dawat-e-Islami. His teachings and written works continue to inspire millions worldwide, fostering spiritual growth and a deeper connection to Islamic principles.
1. Early Life and Ancestry:
Ilyas Qadri’s ancestral roots trace back to Kutyanah, Gujarat, India, within the Kutchi Memon community. Born in Karachi on July 12, 1950, to Abdur Rahman Qadri, his family initially settled in Hyderabad, Sindh, and later moved to Karachi after the establishment of Pakistan.
2. Educational Pursuits:
Ilyas Qadri dedicated 22 years of his life to studying under the mentorship of the esteemed scholar Muhammad Waqaruddin Qadri at Darul Uloom Amjadia in Karachi.
3. Founding Dawat-e-Islami:
Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri founded Dawat-e-Islami, a non-political organization with a global presence in over 195 countries. Dawat-e-Islami has played a vital role in promoting Islamic education through the establishment of madrasas, including Jamia-tul-Madina, where the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum is taught.
4. Sufi Journey:
Ilyas Qadri became a student of Ziauddin Madani, a disciple of Ahmad Raza Khan, and was authorized in Sufism by Fadlur Rahman and Waqar-ud Din. Shariful-Haq Amjadi authorized him in the four major Sufi orders: Qadiriyyah, Chishtiyyah, Naqshbandiyyah, and Suhrawardiyya.
5. Literary Contributions:
With around 30 books to his credit, Ilyas Qadri’s written works delve into various aspects of Islamic teachings and spirituality. “Faizan-e-Sunnat” in 2 volumes, “Laws of Ṣalāĥ,” “Priceless Diamonds,” “Cure for Anger,” “I want to rectify myself,” “Method of becoming Pious,” and “Cure for Sins” are some of his significant contributions.
6. Dawat-e-Islami Departments:
The Madani Channel serves as a platform for disseminating Islamic content and education, catering to a global audience. Madrasa tul Madinah is committed to Quranic education and memorization, nurturing a deep understanding of the holy book. Jamia-tul-Madina offers the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum, contributing to comprehensive Islamic education. Additionally, other departments, including Mosque Service, Madani Inamat, and Madani Qafila, play vital roles in supporting various aspects of the community’s needs and services. These efforts collectively contribute to the holistic mission of Dawat-e-Islami in promoting Islamic knowledge and practice.
