Muhammad Zahid Khan is a well-known politician. He belongs to the Awami National Party. He has also served as a senator. His tenure was from March 2009 to March 2015.
Muhammad Zahid Khan, born on 14 April 1956 in Timergara. Timergara is a small village in the lower Dir district. His family is influential in the area and has deep roots in politics.
He is tall and has a charismatic personality. He remains engaged with ordinary people and, therefore, very popular in Malakand.
Muhammad Zahid Khan has been admitted to a nearby school in his town to start his education. There was no college available in my hometown. Therefore, he has to move out of the city to enhance his teaching. He did his second year at the Govt Post Graduate Degree College in Timergara.
Zahid Khan has continued his studies and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration. We can say that he is one of the rare politicians in Pakistan who have relevant degrees.
Zahid Khan belongs to a political family. Politics was in his blood. Therefore, he started politics at the school level by contesting for small leadership positions. His passion for politics remained with him throughout his studies.
He started his political career by joining the Awami National Party in 1997. Asfandyar Wali Khan is the president of ANP, and Mian Iftikhar Hussain is the general secretary of ANP.
He was elected as a senator from the Awami National Party. He was very active and did a lot of work for the betterment of his area’s people, making him popular among the masses. Therefore, he contested again for the senate seat in March 2009 and was successfully elected as a senator.
In the 2018 elections, Zahid Khan contested the seat of the national assembly from the Awami National Party. He contests vigorously with Mehboob Shah of PTI, Molana Asadullah of MMA & Ahmad Hassan of PPPP. Unfortunately, he lost the seat, but he succeeded in securing 30,682 votes.
Zahid Khan was fully involved in politics and has participated in many committees. He also remained chairperson of the Senate Committee on Water and Power.
Unlike too many politicians, Zahid Khan remains upfront in providing his services. He remains a member of the Standing Committee on Health, Standing Committee on Religious Affairs, Standing Committee on Communications, Standing Committee on Water and Power and Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication.
Recently, the president of PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Amir Muqam has invited Senator Zahid Khan to join PML-N. Engr. Amir Muqam is an adviser to the prime minister, and he visited Dir to give an invitation.
On the occasion of the visit of Engr. Amir Muqam, a gathering is arranged. Amir Muqam gave a brief speech. He has praised Zahid Khan for his excellent work for the prosperity of Malakand Division.
He further said that the betterment of the ordinary people is the top priority of the current government, and the government is looking positively towards Zahid Khan for support and cooperation.
