Sana Mir is a prominent player in the Pakistan women’s cricket team. Her jersey number is 5. She was born on January 5, 1986, in Abbottabad, the KPK province in Pakistan. Sana belongs to a Kashmiri family.

Early Life

Sana Mir, to a military family, belongs to Rawalpindi. Her father’s name is Mir Moatazid. He was a colonel in the Pakistan Army. She received her early education from Rawalpindi. Later, she continued her studies in Gujranwala when her father posted in the Gujranwala cantonment.

She did her matriculation during their stay in Taxila Cantonment from Hitech Heavy Industries Taxila Education City. Sana’s family shifted to Karachi. She did her intermediate and bachelor’s degree from Karachi. She did her bachelor’s in Statistics and Economics.

Height and Play

Sana Mir is 5 feet and 8 inches tall. Sana is an all-rounder cricketer. She is a right-arm off-spin bowler and a right-handed batsman. Sana started playing cricket in college. However, she has begun professional cricket in Karachi during her studies.

She has played cricket at Pakistan Cricket Board Women Greens, South Zone (Pakistan) Women, Karachi. Later, she also played domestic cricket for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited.

Sana Mir's Debut

According to ESPN, she debuted in ODI cricket in December 2005 against Sri Lanka in Karachi. She did not bat in her debut, but she did bowl four overs with one maiden, in which she conceded only 19 runs. Unfortunately, Pakistan lost the match, but she performed well in her debut.

She played her first T20 match against Ireland in May 2009 in Dublin. Unfortunately, Pakistan lost the game again, but she bowled 2.3 overs, in which she conceded only 19 runs and got one wicket.

One Day Career (ODI)

She has played 120 ODI matches. She has bowled 118 times and batted in 110 innings. She has scored 1630 runs and obtained 151 wickets. Her highest score is 52 in the ODI. Her best bowling is five wickets for 32 runs. She has an average of 17.91 with a strike rate of 42.23. In bowling, her economy rate is 3.7. She has also taken 42 catches in the ODI.

She has bowled 990.2 overs, where she has bowled 106 maiden overs. She has taken five wickets one time and four wickets seven times. Out of her 120 matches, Pakistan has won 38, lost 79, tied one, and had no result in two games. Nineteen times, she has played not-out innings in an ODI. She made three half-centuries in the ODI. She played 72 ODI matches as captain.

T20 Career

She has played 106 T20 matches. She has bowled 105 times and batted in 81 innings. She has scored 802 runs and obtained 89 wickets; her highest score is 48 in T20. It was her best bowling with four wickets for 13 runs. She has an average of 14.07 with a strike rate of 70.66. In bowling, her economy rate is 5.51. 

She has bowled 378.2 overs. Of her 106 matches, Pakistan has won 42, lost 60, tied three, and had no result in one game. She has played 24 not-out innings in T20. She has taken 26 catches in T20. She played 65 T20 matches as captain.

Contribution

Sana Mir had a unique record when she led Pakistan in its first tournament in Sri Lanka, where Pakistan won in both formats and ODI in T20. She became the first female cricketer from Pakistan to take 100 wickets in an ODI.

Sana has played matches for almost every known country. However, she has played maximum games (21) against Sri Lanka. Sana has played 20 matches against South Africa. She has played 17 games against the West Indies.

Records

Sana has the first position worldwide to take the most wickets in a series in ODI. She has the second position worldwide in most lbw out, with 46 wickets. She has the third position worldwide in most consecutive matches, 73 matches. Again, Sana has the third position worldwide to take the most consecutive four wickets in an ODI two times.
