Ghazi Salahuddin is a Pakistani journalist, writer, literary figure, and political science scholar.
Ghazi Salahuddin is a senior journalist who writes a weekly column for the English-language The News and the Urdu-language Jang. Before becoming the first editor of The News in Karachi in February 1991, he worked for Dawn in a number of positions, including as News Editor. During General Ziaul Haq’s martial law, his column ‘Karachi Diary’ was a significant voice of criticism. He has also been involved in the electronic media, serving on the panel of PTV’s Kasauti quiz programme for a period. In recent years, he has hosted a book programme on Geo TV.
In his youth, he published well-received Urdu fiction. Mr Salahuddin is also a social activist and advocate of human rights.
Ghazi Salahuddin received the President’s Pride of Performance Award in journalism and the National Book Foundation’s Bibliophile of the Year Award in 2011.
