Naveen Naqvi was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and grew up in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, where her parents relocated when she was three years old. She returned to her hometown with her family when she was fifteen, and she finished her education there.
She has since lived in Islamabad, Delhi, Vancouver, New York, and is currently in Toronto.
Naveen Naqvi is a senior anchor of Pakistan’s first English-language news channel, Dawn News, where she previously hosted the morning news program Breakfast at Dawn. Naqvi formerly worked for NBC News in Islamabad before joining Dawn News. During this period, she also wrote for MSNBC.com, for their online publication.
Naveen was invited to the Eurasian Media Forum in April 2009 as a journalist. She interviewed former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and chaired a panel discussion on media management in the Gaza conflict with notable scholars and journalists. Some of the more well-known names are George Galloway and Gideon Levy.
She was recently invited to appear on a panel of seven of Pakistan’s best journalists to interview visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Naqvi works as an online journalist for the Dawn blog and The Huffington Post.
Naveen Naqvi previously worked as a runway, print, and television commercial model. She was a well-known television actor, having appeared in serials such as Nangay Paon and Angar Wadi. Naqvi initially appeared on television as the host of the music show Music Channel Charts. This was Pakistan’s first music chart show, making her the country’s first video jockey (VJ).
